I love this book! I found this book in the 70s and, with two young children and almost no money, I was able to make learning materials and set up my own little "school." I often recommend this book to people who
are looking for good homeschool material as well as ways to help their children with disabilities (my son had autism). This book shows us that "where there is a will, there is a way." That way is excellent.

I usually am not the type to review anything but this book impressed me so much I'm compelled to share my opinion with others. I am new to homeschooling and have looked and studied a lot of resource books, some which are pretty good too but can be bit overwhelming but this is really excellent, simple yet well laid out, concise and complete. Yes, there are some resources in it that are now outdated but there is still so much information to use that I highly recommend this book to new homeschooling parents.

While this book is intended for parents of gifted children who are intending to home school, this book is essential for any educator of gifted children. There are many resources given for gifted children in the classroom, as well as home school resources. Lisa Rivero gives a general yet thorough description of the special and unique qualities and needs of gifted children and then systematically delves into different home schooling techniques and how they can be used to meet the needs of those children, even if they go to a public or private school. Although the book reads somewhat like a thesis paper, there are many quotes from both parents and gifted children to demonstrate the concepts, which keeps the book very readable and enjoyable. Nevertheless, this book is valuable just for the bibliography alone.

This is a fabulous, irreplaceable, always-at-my-side resource book. I especially love it for unit study research. Just as valuable as the resources and reviews are the well-written and funny personal experiences of the author, a homeschool mother of 3. I use this book CONSTANTLY.

On the down side, since the book was published in 1998, several of the web sites referenced are no longer available. The rest of the book is invaluable, however, thus my rating of 5 stars.
