Death Sentence UNCUT
Death Sentence UNCUT

$14.99
This is a fantastic movie; definitely a new favorite for me. The cast, the story, the unique directing style, it was all great. The 'Uncut' version (or 'unrated' on the DVD) is definitely the way to go, with just the few extra scenes it has it adds so much more emotion and power to the whole film.

I had some trouble getting this to download (actually it took like a month before it worked) but that's absolutely not the movie's fault - that was because of some bizarre glitch in the Amazon Unbox Store that kept registering me as having a foreign IP address (which I don't). Eventually it seems they fixed the problem and I got my download.

Once I finally got the film it was great; high quality, crystal clear (no menus or behind the scenes though). I already owned the movie on DVD but I wanted a copy for my handheld sony vaio (which doesn't have an optical drive) because this is one movie that I take everywhere with me and watch over and over again. Either through the unbox (if your version of unbox works properly) or on DVD, I highly recommend this movie.

The character's in this film are even more appealing than the story itself (which is also very good). The actors (primarily Garrett Hedlund and Kevin Bacon) really did so much with their characters and added so much depth and dimension to these two men. You watch Bacon go from this very boring, average guy and turn into something altogether different. It's so gripping to watch this complete transformation and to see what tragedy and grief can really do to a person. You also see Hedlund as this initially very scary, intense bad guy but you also see him as very human and emotionally charged. I like it when the bad guys in films are very 'human' not just these mindless emotionless murdering monsters - and these bad guys are definitely human.

I also have to mention John Goodman's presence in this film; he wasn't a huge character, but he was really phenomenal and in a lot of ways it was really important to see his character, even just to give the other characters (mainly Hedlund) more depth and background.

Great movie!

This album is the only actual release I've heard from the band Of Montreal. I've heard they have better.

The title, a political jab at George W. Bush (who is quite the easy target these days), means, no doubt, something pretty damning and rather insulting to the President, or would be, if anyone can figure out what it means. The cover art appears to be an indictment against Bush - again, that is, if anyone could figure out the incomprehensible meaning behind it all.

The overall sound of the album is dominanted by samples, stringes, horns, guitar, piano, etc.

Is it a good album? I suppose so. Like the dear E. A. Solinas points out (I found myself reviewing a lot of the same things he reviews), this individual songs are actually pretty great (especially "Hating Rock Critics"). But overall, the album is very much a throwback to the early and mid 1960s where albums just collection of random songs, rather than a body of work with any conceptual and binding unity.

What songs there are are quite good. However, the album is very disjointed, making this more a record of individual moments, than an overall musical experience you can wrap your mind around.

It's a schizophrenic album, to say the least. Good, but too disjointed to really hang together as a good album. Lots of great songs though.
