![]() The Cook's Illustrated Guide To Grilling And Barbecue $35.00 This book was recommended to me by a friend who performs magically on her grill...she is humble in accepting praise and attributes her abilities completely to this book. She has so many post-its on wonderful recipes, that the pages look fringed! I gave it as a gift and, once again, it was accepted and read like a novel...not a cookbook. Without a doubt, this book is the bible of grilling how-to references! ![]() Weber's Real Grilling: Over 200 Original Recipes, Each with a Color Photo $24.95 I bought "Real Grilling" with my new grill last year as kind of an add on. In the more than a year that has passed, "Real Grilling" has become the most used cookbook in the house. From the "Bourbon barbecued Rib-Eye Steaks" that I made 2 nights ago, to the "Cedar Plank Salmon" my daughter asked for last month when home from college to the "shrimp tacos" that had everyone thinking I was a great chef, this book is full of great recipes that are well illustrated and easy to follow. There is something for everyone in this book. If you need a grilling Bible, get this book. In addition to great recipes, the author covers basics about different types of grills and adds many rub and marinate recipes as well. The only downside, as others have noted, my book is in several pieces from being used so much. I have considered making a looseleaf binder of the pages myself, but if the publisher would make a spiral version that would be helpful. ![]() Strathwood 4-Piece Stainless-Steel Grilling Kit $60.00 When I've purchased Strathwood products it has really been hit or miss on their quality. As for the grilling tools this set as well as the hot dog roller, fish spatula, and the salt & pepper shaker have been high quality and a bargain price. The chicken holder in this set is made up of 3 pieces and should cook beer can style chicken well. I anticipate the stainless steel will discolor due to extreme heat but that should not effect durability. Also on the basting brush the handle is so short that I will likely only use it indoors. The vegetable basket and flat tray are heavy and generously sized. My favorite piece is the marinating bowl. It has a fairly long handle and can hold at least 12 ounces. I'm sure it will be frequently used both indoors and outdoors. Now I wished I had bought several kits for gifts when it was on sale, although even at today's 30.46 price it is still a bargain for the number and quality of pieces. ![]() Weber's Big Book of Grilling $24.95 This cookbook rocks! I have had my own copy for years, but just ordered it for a Christmas gift. As a cook, the recipes are well thought out and easy. Instructions -- not difficult! One of my favorite recipes is the garlic shrimp, on skewers -- it is a crowd pleaser! Weber and grilling, well, they just go together. |
