In addition, I was a mom to grandkids living far from their grandparents so I have the benefit of understanding the issues from both sides. I didn't find too many new ideas in this book, but that's probably because I've "been there, done that" for much of my adult life. The tips are nicely presented and the unique stories gathered from grandparents who are working to stay in their grandkids lives across the miles are excellent. I'd recommend this slim paperback to new grandmothers and mothers to read and share so they can work as a team to build a relationship between the generations despite living far apart. Each chapter describes an age appropriate activity with a plethera of unique and clever ideas. There are outdoor activities such as gardening, shell collecting, playground fun, scavenger hunts and camping. Other projects range from the classic, baking gingerbreads, quilting, and "dress-up" to "composing on the keyboard", collecting stones, helping with the homework and even fun on the slopes!
