In a recent hotly contested election, the Gnu Foods Cinnamon Raisin bar was elected as the best tasting. I'm glad my candidate won. :')

Seriously, of the five current flavors of these fiber bars, Cinnamon Raisin is by far the best. The others are okay but nothing special (3 stars) with the Chocolate Brownie my next choice (4 stars).

These are not you typical nutrition bars, they are real food. They are made with healthy, fresh ingredients and taste like something mom might bake. Packed with nutrition, they are also a good choice for meal replacement if you are on the run. The only thing lacking is extra protien (there is some) so keep that in mind. You could try pairing it with the high protein ZOIC Nutrition Drink. The fiber fills you up and helps keep you full for hours. It amazes me that two bars have almost all of my daily serving needs for fiber. And they really do keep you regular, if you know what I mean.

I could ramble on but the only way to know yourself is to try one. My suggestion is try the Cinnamon Raisin first, then the others if you like it. I'm betting you come back to the Cinnamon Raisin.

What are the typical things that a programmer do in their job? Open a text editor to write codes, compile and debug. That's it. I was used to writing code in IDE running on Windows, everything seem to be work seamlessly and easily. One click, the program compiles. Another click, it run. Click again, it adds breakpoint etc. However, most GNU software run in Unix/Linux, which is complete different story. Argh, there wasn't icon that I could click and open up the text editor. I gotta write command line to compile each files, then link them to build the entire project. This is the purposes of this book - telling you how to write code in EMACS, to build code using command line and makefile, debug with gdb and source management using RCS. It doesn't tell you how to install and administrate Unix/Linux. If you are absolute beginner in Unix/Linux, this book will save you lots of time wondering how to build your Hello World program.

I fell in love with these Gnu bars after picking one up at the airport on a business trip. I decided to order 3 boxes (over $80 worth) through The Vitamin Shoppe on Amazon. BIG MISTAKE. The Vitamin Shoppe transposed the numbers on the zip code, so when I checked the delivery status with UPS, they said the package was being returned to The Vitamin Shoppe due to their error with the zip code (my zip code was fine on Amazon, it was clearly The Vitamin Shoppe's fault). UPS told me they could not correct it, and to call the Vitamin Shoppe. I did, and let them know about their error. They emailed me and told me that the zip code was corrected. Great, right? No, the next day, they emailed me and said they had canceled my order. I emailed them back and asked why they canceled it, and they responded with one of the nastiest customer service emails I have ever received, telling me it was my fault I gave Amazon the wrong zip (which is incorrect, I have ordered through Amazon for years and double-checked, my zip is correct), that I refused delivery of the package (which again, the package was never delivered due to their error, so there was no way for me to refuse the delivery), and stating that they have refunded my money. So I check my bank account, and they only refunded me for about $50 of the $80 of merchandise I ordered. So... I email them back for the rest of the refund, letting them know about their errors, and telling them I'd like better customer service. I called the main Vitamin Shoppe office in New Jersey and left a message for their VP of Distribution, he never called me back. TURNS OUT you can order directly from GNU FOODS themselves, which I did, and received the package in under a week in a very simple transaction. Unfortunately, the Vitamin Shoppe has a chokehold on a big piece of the health food and supplement market, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND ORDERING THROUGH THEM, they are slightly out of their minds, and I ended up losing money!
