Love the game. Good story a lot of replay value.

The NVG's are really cool. They work and all, for some reason It runs out of battery's quickly. The focus is good, could be sharper and i really loose depth perception when wearing them.

Amazon shipped it quickly but the box was too big for the game.

GILA HEAT CONTROL WINDOW FILM
GILA HEAT CONTROL WINDOW FILM

My daughter lives in Boise, ID. The quality of windows in her rather new home has been quite disappointing and her home is very uncomfortable in the winter with drafts from the windows. Her home has a lot of open space from downstairs to upstairs and the builder installed the thermostat upstairs! It's been difficult and very expensive for her to maintain a comfortable temperature in the living area downstairs during the winter so the family resorted to existing in 55 to 60 degrees (and hefty drafts) downstairs and 72-76 degrees up. This fall she and I installed Gila window film on all her windows. From the first day we finished the project, there has been just one degree difference between the downstairs and upstairs temperatures. She is able to keep the thermostat at 70 up and it is always just one degree less downstairs. They now enjoy comfortable temperatures throughout their home. They expect to have significantly lower heating bills this winter. Thanks to Gila Window Film.

We put up the platinum version of the film because it promised a little greater heat control (summer and winter). The color only slightly reduced the light coming in and is very satisfactory in allowing good, clear vision through the windows.

Two of us worked on the project. She has a big, two story home with lots of windows. It took us two full days to complete the work. After the first couple windows were done, we had a smooth routine going very well and it took less time to do the remaining windows. We followed the directions very carefully; worked in tandem with patience for each other; used her large dining room table with all the leaves for film preparation and cutting (this was probably a significant factor in our success) and used the accompanying kit as directed for application to the windows(she eventually aborted the cutting guide and simply cut the excess film around the window by sight and hand). We found that a solution of no-tears baby shampoo with bottled water was our best and least expensive spray. We used 1/4 teaspoon shampoo with every 16 oz of bottled water and were careful to dry with cotton cloths that wouldn't leave any lint behind. That gave us crystal clean windows with no chemical residue from commercial window cleaners. The solution worked very well in all phases of application. Hint: be sure to have a couple spray bottles filled and ready all the time because we used a lot of water. We kept one spray bottle at the preparation table and another at the window we were working on - it saved having to scramble for water at a critical moment in the process.

It is important to keep the film wet at all steps, as directed in the instructions. Be generous with the spray! We found it to be very helpful in the final step of pressing the bubbles out of the film as it was being adhered to the window. We used lots of water in that process because it made the smoothing out very efficient.

The final step of adhering the film and pressing the bubbles out was key to very clear vision through the film. The plastic tool in the kit was very satisfactory in this last step. It was important to put a lot of time and patience in this step. We checked each window the next morning to see if there were spots where we needed to go through that process again to catch and eliminate any little bubbles we'd missed the day before. We found we could work on the film up to nearly 20 hours after application.

Now, my husband and I are about to begin the project in our own home in Wisconsin. We have very large windows in our living room with lots of heat loss in spite of good windows. Can't wait to see what the effects of this film will be on our heating bills and environmental comfort this winter.

Thumbs up to Gila window film!
The Giant Gila Monster

With Sid's horrorfest at film number 18 we decided to go with a movie in true Mystery Science Theater 3000 style with The Giant Gila Monster. Coming from 1959 it proves to be something very different for Sid. Sure we've enjoyed sporadic clips over the years from these style films where giant animals or bugs take on a city, but have never actually watched one from start to finish. We figured there was no better time to give it a shot then during our 31 days of horror or in this case comedy. This will also give old St. Nick the spotlight as this one will be the Santa pick of the Month being that it's right up his alley of black and white films. It's the type you'll here "oh baby!" come from his lair.

We start off with a small quiet town in Texas that get's terrorized by a giant lizard, well actually a normal sized lizard just zoomed in on the make it look huge. When a group of extremely polite teens so up missing for a sock hop their buddies immediately contact the authorities. Mind you the dialogue from this movie is absolutely hilarious in true family guy "fast talking, high trousers" fashion. The adults think the kids are pulling some type of slickster prank at first and dismiss their story about the giant reptile. Once the sheriff gets involved and realizes this kids are telling the truth they set forth on a seek and destroy mission with "Great Success!" They decided to take on of the kids hot rods and attach explosives to drive into the monster destroying it on contact. Just fantastic stuff!

Usually these films don't appeal to us unless they're being watched on an MST3K basis, but this one was simply hilarious. It shows us that we may be missing a great piece of b cinema in our weekly routine. When you really focus on B then you have to realize the 50's is really what got the ball rolling. Plus the dialogue is right up Sid's alley in the way we'll joke around from time to time, so you really can't miss with that. For us the film was classic and hilarious with no frills. There are no special effects to be found outside of a few very dull explosions and a toy train set derailing attempting to look like a real train. And that's exactly what we loved about it. We recommend The Giant Gila Monster and most likely would have had some laughs years back.
