Critical Path project management planning tool, an inexpensive alternative to Microsoft Project. Calculates Early Start, Late Start, Early Finish, Late Finish, Float (Slack) and identifies Critical Path activities. Calculates and summarizes resource costs. Shows all project data in a "spreadsheet" pattern for ease of understanding. Data may be manually entered or imported from a file or the clipboard. Independent re-sizeable and hideable windows show PERT views and Gantt (bar chart) views of the project in addition to the "spreadsheet" view. This introduction accompanies a reprinted book Organizing for Work written by Henry Laurence Gantt in 1919. The introduction explores how early management styles and principles of leadership are accepted in todays business environment. This research examines the evolution of management thought over the past century. It is interesting and insightful to realize the challenges of early managers and understand those challenges are not that different from today. The parallels of management between 1900 and 2006 are remarkable. Organizing for Work by Henry Laurence Gantt remains valuable even though it is out of publication at this time. It is my contention that republishing this valuable work, with an introduction explaining its relevance to management thought and todays issues, will help strengthen knowledge in the management field.
