![]() Batman: Arkham Asylum $59.99 What genius to realize that the way to make a Batman game "feel right" is to import the tropes from the Survival Horror Genre (like Resident Evil). I'm not quite sure when I realized I was actually playing a survival horror game but it sure works well with the Batman mythos, turning survival horror on it's head to boot. The Joker is the ultimate monster. He kills and maims just for fun. He's a homicidal maniac. The gritty world of an Arkham island run by Joker and the rest of the loonies is brought to life with graphical impact that leaps straight from a comic book and into (virtual) reality.I actually sighed in relief when I finally got one of my friends (I won't say who) off that horrible island and then turned and voluntarily walked back into the darkness, ready to face the Joker's next horror. Why? Because I *am* the Dark Knight. I'm Batman! Joker, you can send all the Killer Crocs and Banes you wish, but I'll take them down using my finely honed fighting skills and my greatest weapon of all -- my intellect. Forget about your men with guns, Joker, for face their fears from above, swooping in too fast to react and then flying away into the darkness before a buddy can give cover fire. I may carry no gun myself, but my arsenal is considerable; Explosives, bat claws, batarangs and everything you'd expect from the Dark Knight, even a hidden bat cave. My only ally is Oracle, the former batgirl you crippled, Joker. She still hunts you, though in her own way. Now excuse me because I've got a job to finish and one nasty clown-embodied loose end to tie up. These tapes give me the clues as to what Joker wants and it's just a matter of time before I figure it all out. Come, Joker, I'll face your horrors and I'll show you what really lurks in the night. ![]() Xbox 360 Wireless Controller $49.99 This is a sick game controller for the 360, in addition to a different layout of buttons, it now has more colors to choose! This is a 30 ft range wireless controller and there are 14 buttons in all, 2 toggle sticks, 2 bumpers, 2 triggers, 4 colorful buttons and the xbox guide button and start and back buttons. The controller fits very comfortable in your hands and can be connected to a microphone. The controller also has two vibration motors, which makes very realistic vibrations. For example, when driving and you hit a wall, it vibrates just like the real world. The xbox guide button is located in the middle of the controller and lights up green leds to indicate what player you are. The xbox guide button can be pressed during gameplay, so you can chat with someone while your game is loading. The d-pad is very odd, it looks like a entire button, but it's 8 way directional, so i won't be so blunt about this. The controller is very durable, unless you throw it on the ground. I've had the right trigger break, because of my clumsiness. These controllers are fairly priced on amazon.com, 20$ used, so it's a very good deal. The bad part is that the controller is not rechargable, unless you buy a rechargable kit to plug in the front of the controller and plug into the console to save batteries. ![]() Halo 3: ODST $59.99 ODST is a good addition to the ranks of Halo. Its campaign is strong, but short, and builds effectively on the base set forward in the first three games. Its plot is interesting and the story is well presented. The new methods of moving through the levels are also innovative and welcome. Firefight, the new addition to the gameplay, is also exciting and fun to play. I would recommend this for any hard-core Halo fan! |
