My son has gone through two of these watches. He doesn't wear watches; he brutalizes them. The last one served him well for seven years. The first watch lasted around five years. I bought one and immediately liked it. I didn't like the black band and replace it with a nice metal bracelet. I wore that watch for nearly nine years. I had the battery changed 3 or 4 times. The last time the battery was changed, the jeweler told me the pushers had become clogged. He cleaned them, and I wore it another two years. When it finally conked, I got another watch. It is good for daily wear, and with a nice metal bracelet it makes a good dress watch. If you like this breed of watch, I think you will like this one.

The Casio AW81D-2AV is a reasonably good looking watch. Unfortunately, it is very hard to read in the dark (the light does a poor job of illuminating the hands, digits, and digital display). The band looks good, has a helpful locking spring-clamp on the clasp, and can be adjusted. The worst aspect is the complex and clunky procedures required to access and use its many settings, and to adjust the hands, which do not automatically change to conform with the digital time. I don't see how one would ever find the "phone book" memo feature useful. Don't throw away the manual as you will surely need it. The watch does seem to keep accurate time, and I have had it under water a few times with no evidence of leaking.

He also enjoys using the calculator and alarm functions. The only negative; the watch crystal sits rather high and already has a scratch.
