![]() The Shawshank Redemption (Single Disc Edition) $14.98 This is a keeper for you video collection. It will make you laugh and cry. A wonderful movie. Some sad moments, but they all work themselves out. Great to keep and great to give as a gift. Based on a short story by Stephen King. ![]() Forrest Gump $14.98 Definetely one of my top three movies. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, that what most people got out of it was an archetype that they could forever make fun of, but for me this isn't the case. You've never had a friend like this, actually I think most people go their whole lives without ever really having a friend at all. Forrest Gump is a true friend. I've been blessed enough in my life to know someone like this. People surely think that he's some dimwit worth nothing more than making fun of, but I've read something like 100 books on spirituality/religion/psychology/philosophy, and I can think of no other "archetype" that fits the mold of nirvana or real enlightenment than Forrest. If it were "in" to be as humble as him this sick world would instantly be healed and have zero problems, but instead he is forever mocked and crucified. Anyways, a classic film and my third favorite of alltime. 7 stars out of 5. ![]() Titanic $14.98 Love Story meets The Poseidon Adventure as two star-crossed lovers keep their romance afloat even as everything around them is sinking. Despite choppy scene transition and staginess, James Cameron manages to turn a well-known disaster into a story of love (almost) triumphing over life itself. ![]() Forrest Gump (Chocolate Box Giftset) [Blu-ray] $49.99 I love this film and just had to get the Blu-Ray version. It looks crisp and clean as you would expect, but for some strange reason, the rock music soundtrack has vanished. The film's normal soundtrack is there, but when the rock music is supposed to kick in (Vietnam for instance), you hear about half a second then silence. I have to say that it totally ruined the film for me and my wife, as this was such an integral part of the emotions that this film can evoke. I do have this film on normal DVD and I compared the two, just to be sure. I will be returning this copy to Amazon, and will let you know what the outcome is. I wonder if this a single disc fault, or a fault in the copying process for all these discs? |
