![]() File System Forensic Analysis $59.99 I purchased the kindle version of this book. The content of this book is great. The kindle version content page does not work. You can not select a chapter from the index and go directly to it. I also found at least one 2 page chart that is not useable on the kindle. The 2 page chart should be reduced to a 1 page image that can be viewed in landscape mode (with the kindle on its side). If the kindle version is fixed, it would then deserve 5 stars! ![]() Dead Men Do Tell Tales: The Strange and Fascinating Cases of a Forensic Anthropologist $15.95 I have been reading about Forensice Anthropology for about a year. I am a medical student and have an interest in the field. After I am finished with one book I am always looking for the next. I came across Dr. Maples book after I read both of Dr. Bill Bass's books (The Body Farm and Beyond the Body Farm). I was disappointed by Maples book because its dry and he is very arrogant. Bass's books are captivating and addictive. Its hard to put them down. They read like a crime novel, and you are left wanting more. Dr. Maples books read like a journal article, where he lays out the chapter for you in the first few pages, letting you know what happens, and then he goes into more detail, but you already know how it ends! Where is the suspense. Overall it was an interesting read but it was a bit of a step down from Bass's page-turners. If you havent read Bill Bass yet I suggest you do it. You will fall in love. If you have already read him, just be aware Maples is a bit decaf in comparison. ![]() History -- Modern Marvels : Forensic Science: The Crime Fi $24.95 It all started with Sherlock Holmes. The incredible ability of the fictional detective to solve crimes from the merest physical clues inspired Scotland Yard to follow his lead and search for the trail of criminals in the physical evidence left behind at every crime scene. 100 years later, forensic science boasts abilities that would once have been considered magical, even by the exceedingly rational Holmes. CRIME SCIENCE traces the development of forensics from its infancy to today. Agents and investigators demonstrate the powerful tools that are at their disposal, from DNA "fingerprinting" to fiber science, and revisit famous cases, from the ballistic evidence that led to the conviction of James Earl Ray to the tiny clues that put investigators of the Lockerbie disaster on the trail of Libyan terrorists. It's the definitive history of how technology has helped transform the art of crime solving. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply. ![]() Criminalistics: An Introduction to Forensic Science (College Edition) (9th Edition) $130.20 This is a well written book by an expert in the field. The only problem I had relates to the publisher, Pearson/Prentice Hall. The text is supposed to come with two supplementary CDs in the back of the book, but the publishing company has stopped including them. According to the representative I spoke with the CDs are no longer made. Some of the text descriptions still include references to the supplemental CDs, so be aware they are no longer available. |
