![]() Legend of the Seeker: The Complete First Season $45.99 It is so good that I couldn't stop watching one after another.. I finished the whole season in 2 days!! ![]() The Four Seasons (First Discovery Look-It-Up Board Book Series) $4.95 I took this book out of the library, not sure that the series of detailed realistic pages depicting a cherry tree through the seasons would interest my toddler (2 3/4 yrs old). It seemed a bit dry and "scholarly" with no "story". But he who usually flips ahead impatiently was fascinated, noting how the birds in the nest evolved, pointing out tiny details in the background, poring over the changes in the tree, from little pre-spring buds to falling brown leaves. The same tree branch is shown throughout, and it, as well as the background scenery, undergoes seasonal changes in minute detail. The animals shown are realistic and appropriate and there is so much to look at on every page. Informative, excellent art, solid chunky pages. A five star book that brought me to the internet to look up others in the same series. ![]() That First Season: How Vince Lombardi Took the Worst Team in the NFL and Set It on the Path to Glory $25.00 Whether you are a fan of professional sports or not, the enchanting Hollywood movie-like story of Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers' trek from the doldrums of their sport to its highest glory is nothing short of miraculous and awe-inspiring. Author John Eisenberg does a brilliant job of capturing all the sights and sounds of what it was like during that historic first season of Lombardi's eventual reign of dominance in the National Football League. You see Lombardi for exactly who he was -- warts and all -- to unveil exactly how he transformed this bottom-dweller of a team into world champions. If you think you know everything there is about the Green Bay Packers and Lombardi during THAT FIRST SEASON, then you may just want to get a copy of this book for a few surprises you may not know about. There are also several vintage photographs of Bart Starr, Jim Taylor, and the rest of that infamous Packers team that went from zeroes to heroes! ![]() Castle: The Complete First Season $39.99 Castle is the funniest show around, which is interesting because it's also a crime drama. It's also the best show depicting a quirky but loving family. Most shows about which you could make that last comment are cast with some very strange actors all doing their own schtick, but this show is well-integrated: a truly stellar ensemble cast. Admittedly, I'd be happy listening to Nathan Fillion read the phone book, but he doesn't hog the jokes. His reactions to the other characters, which are often hilarious, feel real; he's not scene stealing, he's enhancing. Love this show! I wish there had been more bloopers, but overall the disk set of the first season is well produced with nice packaging and it arrived from Amazon in good shape. Small plug for Amazon shipping department: I've never received anything damaged from them, a fact that sends me back to Amazon all other things being equal. |
