 Malt Shop Favorites $13.98 This set would get no more than a 3-star rating because almost all the songs are re-recordings, and the print is so tiny on the tin cover that it is easily missed. I missed it, or I would not have bought it. Then I put it on under random play in a CD player, and the first song that came up was Jerry Lee Lewis doing 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On.' The only reason I can say that is because the CD player said it was playing track six, and that is the song listed for #6 on the cover. In the CD player it sounds more like a herd of buffalo charging through my office. I would bet my music collection that it is a bootleg copy or done by first grade school children. The one song by Bobby Vee sounds like he is an old man, not a teen or twenty with a lost love. Many of the songs sound okay, but I doubt many, if any, are the original hits. I have about 2,000 LP records (which I am slowly converting to digital CD), and I have nearly a thousand CDs, and I have to say that this set could almost take the championship as the 'Worst of the Lot,' or at least one of the biggest disappointments. |
