![]() What Makes a Great Exhibition? $16.95 For better or worse, museums are changing from forbidding bastions of rare art into audience-friendly institutions that often specialize in ¡Èblockbuster¡É exhibitions designed to draw crowds. But in the midst of this sea change, one largely unanswered question stands out: ¡ÈWhat makes a great exhibition?¡É Some of the world¡Çs leading curators and art historians try to answer this question here, as they examine the elements of a museum exhibition from every angle. What Makes a Great Exhibition? investigates the challenges facing American and European contemporary art in particular, exploring such issues as group exhibitions, video and craft, and the ways that architecture influences the nature of the exhibitions under its roof. The distinguished contributors address diverse topics, including Studio Museum in Harlem director Thelma Golden¡Çs examination of ethnically-focused exhibitions; and Robert Storr, director of the 2007 Venice Biennale and formerly of the Museum of Modern Art, on the meaning of ¡Èexhibition and ¡Èexhibitionmaker.¡É A thought-provoking volume on the practice of curatorial work and the mission of modern museums, What Makes A Great Exhibition? will be indispensable reading for all art professionals and scholars working today. (20070228) ![]() Exhibition $19.95 This is my favorite release from Greenwood-Cooper Studios! The guys are very attractive and seem to be having a great time throughout the entire production. Their lack of inhibition and willingness to strip down for the camera give this feature a special charm that is rarely seen in productions like this. The feature is very artistic (some great sequences with occult-type costumes and exotic settings) and the soundtrack couldn't be better suited for the subject matter. Everybody that I've shown this to has fallen in love with it. I took it to the local bar that I frequent, and the owners became so fond of it that they ordered their own copy and play it for the patrons with great frequency. A great dvd to put on when you're having some friends over, don't feel like watching a movie, just have some great eye candy and music in the background (but don't be surprised if your buddies end up glued to the screen occasionally!). Have I convinced you yet?! Get this dvd before it's not available any longer (you never know), you really won't regret it. ![]() Epson Exhibition Fiber Paper $89.00 Printing black and white digitally can be quite tricky and I have experimented with a number of papers in trying to get great looking prints. This is, in my opinion, the closest your going to get to getting your digital prints to look like traditional B&W. Granted, you have to adjust your photos for proper contrast first, but this paper goes a long way in helping you. |
