![]() Planet in Peril $19.98 Planet in Peril tries to address some very important and controversial topics that are relevant to Environmental Science,Ecology, and the later chapters in most current Biology texts. Topics centered around global warming are covered in a professional manner by the experts at CNN. It holds the students' interest due to personal stories shared by real people affected by the subject matter around the globe. The video lacks substance, however, and sound research from varied sources. ![]() Earth Awareness: Environmental Issues $9.95 Use this book to supplement Life, Earth and Social Science studies with engaging activities that are relevant to students and important to the curriculum. The unique structure provides an overview of how the activities can be used across the curriculum, teacher notes for each activity, student information pages, student response pages, and topic quizzes with answers. Includes topics: Pollution, Deforestation, Biodiversity, Conservation, Endangered Species, Energy Sources, Global Warming, Ozone Depletion, Soil Degradation, Genetically-Modified Foods, Urbanization, Pesticides, Hazardous Waste. ![]() Environmental Issues: Measuring, Analyzing, Evaluating (2nd Edition) $42.00 I began presenting an intro course on environmental topics, for which there is a mound of ordinary texts. It was hard to choose, and I doubted if much would be retained from set reading. McConnell and Abel's Environmental Issues, when I found it, proved to be the best choice. Though not comprehensive it sets achievable tasks for my students, gets them busy and both links several skills together and hones them. Since adopting it, I see definite improvements in interest, attention and achievement. It has even given me confidence to start adding modules from my own areas of interest, so clear is the design. ![]() E - The Environmental Magazine $23.70 I gave this magazine as a gift, and also received a subscription as a gift. I can't tell...is it the packaging? The ho-hum articles? I don't know. I had such high hopes for a great-quality magazine that would increase my environmental awareness and encourage me in my small attempt to live green. Alas, I've been disappointed and I won't renew. |
