![]() Franklin KID-1240 Children's Talking Dictionary and Spell Corrector $59.99 I ordered this talking dictionary to keep in my teacher's bag as I travel throughout the school district. When a student asks me how to spell a word, I just hand him or her this dictionary. It's operation is intuitive to a second or third grader and older and they love it! The definitions are short and written for kids. It had a volume adjustment and corrections for phonetic spelling. They look forward to my arriving with the "cool dictionary." Great tool for teachers, substitute teachers and parents alike. Very highly recommended! ![]() Snap Circuits SC-300 $59.99 We used this with our homeschooling and it was popular to say the least. The local radio shack also sells it and can be a resource for extras you can buy to get the most out of it. It comes with a booklet that shows you how to make each experiment. Any hands-on tool used for teaching, especially one where the kids get so excited about the results is always a plus. I'd recommend it as a great project to do with your kids to teach them the basics of how electricity works. My oldest quickly was able to do this independently with her siblings. ![]() Sharp Electronics PW-E550 Electronic Dictionary $119.99 This is one of my all time favorite gifts. My husband got this for me last year (2008) and I love it! It is perfect for my needs. I almost always use it for the dictionary and not for any of the other features it has. It doesn't come with a travel case which in my opinion is a mistake. I read some other consumer reviews from people who said that their unit died on them. So, I went out and purchased a Case Logic portable Hard Drive case for mine. I tend to be pretty careful with my stuff as a general rule but still I didn't want my dictionary to accidentally get wet or knocked on the floor. So far, so good, it's been a year now and it's still working like new. I haven't had any problems with it and I'm hoping I won't. I use it regularly and I am very, very happy with it, I love it! ![]() Electronic $9.98 Electronic being the self-titled debut album by the group formed by Bernard Sumner of New Order and Johnny Marr of the Smiths is a mix of synth pop, house music and alternative rock. The critics loved this album and it is easy to hear why. Allmusic, NME, VOX and Q loved it and all gave it high marks. Songs that standout on this release are "Get the Message", "Tighten Up" and "Feel Every Beat". 5/5. |
