![]() e-Learning by Design $55.00 Been involved in a major project with the Secretara de Educacin Pblica (Mexican Ministry of Education), and wanting to produce the best e-learning for mexican kids, this book has become the Soul and Guide for the ID team working on it. The chapters about Absorb, Do and Conect type activities are the more marked, noted and used to inspire our work. Test chapter (5) as well as Topics & Lessons chapters (6 & 7) have transform the way we design our learning objects. Certainly Will and Kit (his wife) have touch our lives through this book. Thank you both for sharing your knowledge and wisdom, we hope to become good pupils. ![]() Designing Successful e-Learning, Michael Allen's Online Learning Library: Forget What You Know About Instructional Design and Do Something Interesting (Michael Allen's E-Learning Library) $35.00 I bought this book over a year ago but haven't yet written a review. This is a practical, hands-on book for those who are in the training business. Whether you currently build e-learning courses or are looking to, this is a good resource for both background knowledge and helpful tips. The author has deep experience and authority in the field of online training and it shows because the examples and case studies are detailed and well-presented. The flow of the book is clear and oriented toward readers who are already familiar with e-learning. I agree with another reviewer who said that there isn't as much new in the book as the title may suggest, but this is still a good resource that should be part of your e-learning knowledge base. ![]() Better Than Bullet Points: Creating Engaging e-Learning with PowerPoint $50.00 This is a great book for understanding the fundamentals of e-learning design, as well as seeing how a user-friendly presentation tool, PowerPoint, can be used for getting started with e-learning. The book has a nice mix of theory and practical advice and examples. I recently recommended the book to some soft-skills trainers who were just starting to think about putting some of their face-to-face instruction online. This book was perfect for them because they are skilled and experienced facilitators, but not designers, of learning. ![]() e-Learning 2.0: Proven Practices and Emerging Technologies to Achieve Real Results $29.95 Training consultant Anita Rosen designed her book to resemble one of the "asynchronous e-learning courses" she describes within its pages. Her presentation on e-learning is exceptionally clear and is filled with very strong content. Rosen explains that you can't make many of the decisions involved in developing e-learning courses too far in advance, because technology is changing so quickly and new tools are emerging constantly. That said, she does a great job of methodically covering the major aspects of e-learning. She explains current principles and practices, and sums them up at the end of the book in a guide for "subject matter experts" who design e-learning courses. getAbstract recommends this book to corporate trainers, academic distance-learning developers, and anyone else who makes decisions about training. |
