I found that most of the material in this book is out-dated. While the over-arching point of the book may be true, much of the supporting evidence she used that was true at the time the book was published has been found to be incorrect based on more current science. PSA testing is no longer recommended for all men over a certain age, for example. The test, once thought to be a good test for prostate cancer, really is not. There are a lot of conditions that can elevate one's PSA. She also places some of the blame for "bad" tests on the laboratory industry. There has been a lot of regulation between the time most of her data was collected and now. I would like to see a revised edition of this book.

To dismiss the majority of this adventurous advertised return to form of stripped down acoustics as overindulgent seems like a mistake. DiFranco has hardly shied away from melodic or vocal overemphasis her whole career; but when she utilizes her talents in less restrictive ways such as here, listeners not wanting to box her in will be rewarded with many admirable trimmings around some obvious overcooked elements.
