I Googled the crap out of this book and couldn't find anything. I had forgotten the author, but visuals of this book haunted me while practicing creative writing. I found this book at a second hand store when I was twelve and was very intrigued, as Star Wars and Star Trek were the only main-stream Sci-Fi my sheltered childhood allowed. (of course this book doesn't quite compare to the Original Star Wars Trilogies) Definitely, a good read all the way through...recommended! (not only because I'm being nostalgic)

Louis Royo is an excellent artist and the Girl on Girl action is beautifully depicted and the pictures hold up to the standard of his other works.

Like many others who have reviewed here, I'm a long time reader (Constant Reader) of Mr. King. I've been hooked since "Carrie" and even with books that I don't particularly like, I'll read them again just to make sure (sorry "Tommyknockers). I read this latest 1100 page behemoth in 3 days, somehow also managing to sleep and eat during that time. And I was not disappointed. As with several of his other massive novels, such as The Stand and IT, he introduces a lot of characters and throws them into impossible and often heartbreaking situations. I connected with all of them, both the protaganists and antagonists. Yes, a lot of people die in this book (reminded me of "Needful Things" in that way, but ONLY in that way as "Needful Things" is another one of my "read it twice to make sure books"), but contrary to what some other reviewers have expressed, you DO get to know these characters and care about them. I'm sure there are plenty of political and ecological messages to be had from this book and I started to grasp them while reading, but for the most part I was just caught up in the story. If you've ever looked up at a night sky filled with stars and felt tiny and alone, you will appreciate this book and the overlying message that comes through. I'm sure there are plenty of other "deeper" messages (look for them if you so choose), but while doing so you just might miss some of the most poignant and important parts of the book. Bravo, Mr. King. You have once again solidified my status of diehard fan and Constant Reader. This book is phenomenal and though I raced through to the end I now mourn the fact that I can't return to Chester Mills tomorrow.
