![]() The Dog Pit - Or, How To Select, Breed, Train And Manage Fighting Dogs, With Points As To Their Care In Health And Disease - 1888 (History Of Fighting Dogs Series) $24.99 First off, I have NOT read this book so this is not a book review. Second, I am completely AGAINST dog fighting. I own a 1 year old American Pit Bull Terrier who is extremely loyal, loving and gets along great with all other animals (including cats), people, and babies (I have a 5 month old son). Dog fighting makes me sick and the people who take part in it deserve no less than a lifetime in prison, in my opinion. HOWEVER, denying the sale of this book is wrong in the same way it would be wrong to deny the sale of books about war. If we do not study our history we are doomed to repeat it. You cannot censor a book because you disagree with what is written in it, you can only hope the people who purchase it learn from past mistakes. If we start banning literature, regardless of how tasteless and controversial it is to some (or most) people, where does it stop? Do we take the Harry Potter series out of libraries and bookstores because it deals with witchcraft? Do we remove To Kill a Mockingbird from high school reading lists because it's about discrimination against a black man? Do we stop teaching our children about slavery, genocide and war? I don't think so. ![]() TOPGUN Days: Dogfighting, Cheating Death, and Hollywood Glory as One of America's Best Fighter Jocks $24.95 Dave Baranek (callsign ¡ÈBio¡É) was one of 850 young men to receive his Wings of Gold in 1980 as a naval flight officer. Four years later, seasoned by intense training and deployments in the tense confrontations of the cold war, he became the only one of that initial group to rise to become an instructor at the navy¡Çs elite Fighter Weapons School. As a TOPGUN instructor, Bio was responsible for teaching the navy¡Çs and Marine Corps¡Çs best fighter pilots how to be even better. He schooled them in the classroom and then went head-to-head with them in the skies. Then, in August 1985, Bio was assigned to combine his day-today flight duties with participation in a Pentagon-blessed project to film action footage for a major Hollywood movie focusing on the lives, loves, heartbreaks, and triumphs of young fighter pilots, titled Top Gun. Bio soon found himself riding in limousines to attend gala premieres, and being singled out by giggling teenagers and awed schoolboys who recognized the name ¡ÈTopgun¡É on his T-shirts. The book ends with his reflections on his career as a skilled naval?naviator and his enduring love of flight. ![]() Aviation Week: Ultimate Dogfighting $14.98 This film covers all the great battles in the world since the First World war. The data presented is amazing and the images and interviews, stupendous. ![]() Off the Chain $14.98 Good documentary - only 60 min long. Would be interesting to address other issues associated with dogfighting, such as the link to domestic violence or narcotics/weapons trafficking. |
