![]() Sacred Places of a Lifetime: 500 of the World's Most Peaceful and Powerful Destinations $40.00 This book is worth the money, even if it is displayed on your desk or coffee table! It is filled with the most amazing places and the second you pick it up all you want to do is put together a list of where you will go first! I am using this book currently to help plan for a trip in South America. I do not want to go through a travel agency so I am collecting as much information as I can prior to my departure so I can hit the ground running. I know I can utilize this book for my future travel plans and it will not lead me astray! ![]() The Stars My Destination $13.95 The story may seem a bit off the scale for what we consider SF in 2009, however when I first found a paperback copy in 1967 and read it... SF became real to me. Alfred Bester takes a character who is basically an idiot and brings him up to the stage of 'awakening' all while going in a strange sort of spiral. I found the message profound... yes, there is meaning in the book and for a teenager of 15, it caused an awakening in my mind. That awakening led me to a fantastic world of possibility and surrealism all wrapped up in my own imagination. Bester is to SF, what Tolkien is to Fairy Tales and Fantasy. This is still my favorite book by this author, right next to his book:"Golem 100"!.. One is left with a question, only your imagination can answer. ![]() The Knot Guide to Destination Weddings $19.99 This book was merely "okay" in my opinion. It has some good general information for couples looking to get hitched away from home, but it wasn't as detailed or specific as I'd wanted. Besides that, I'm a bride on a budget and most of the info contained within this book was for couples with higher incomes. If you've got the money to spend, I'm sure this book would be very helpful to you. For those of us seeking to dial down the expense...probably not so much. Also, if you're looking into doing a cruise ship wedding (like I am), then this book probably won't help you at all. I will give The Knot this, though; the timeline at the front of the book is excellent. It's very clear as to what you should be doing when and how much time you arguably have to get it done. Very concise, very practical (no matter your budget). I had to give it a whole extra star for this feature alone. All-in-all, I give this book a C+, a solid (if slightly disappointing) rating. ![]() From Beginning to End $21.53 I loved listening to disco music in the 70's and Destination's "Move on Up", "My Number 1 Request", and "Party" were the best! I ordered the Unidisc version (SPLK-7092) of this release containing 8 tracks which is not a CD-R and would recommend this version if available. |
