![]() Should Confusion $14.97 To start off, Brandon Patton now resides in Brooklyn, NY, but let's not split hairs with Amazon. Having seen Brandon perform live in his two-person show, JUKEBOX STORIES (with playwright Prince Gomalvilas), a number of times, I can safely say that his charisma, his down-to-earthiness, and his humor do come across in this CD. Where the styles do range a bit, there is a solid foundation of musicianship and self-effacing storytelling. My first opinion on Brandon's work was very "Jack-Johnson-ish," but Brandon's stylings are, I feel, less easy to pigeonhole. The music is more like older-era storytellers: Some songs have similar structures, but the content changes, and then you find these very different styles thrown in (yeah, it's vague, but I've spent a good two years trying to pin this dude's styings down). At any rate, pick this CD up. Go see Brandon live when you can as well(brandonpatton.com). |
