 Sun Brand Madras Curry Powder, 16 Ounce Cans (Pack of 4) $26.88 I have had trouble finding a good spicy hot curry powder in Colorado, so I was delighted to find this. Since it didn't say 'hot' I was afraid it wouldn't be hot enough, but that wasn't a problem. Yes, it is high in sodium, but I just don't add any more salt to my curries and use much less in cooking the rice to go with it than I might with a less salty curry powder.  50 Great Curries of India, Tenth Anniversary Edition $14.95 Ok. So I am a really picky food lover. I love everything to do with food....love to eat it...love to cook it...love to know more about it.. Every single thing I have tried from this book has been exceptional...even some of the more complicated ones, which I was not too sure about! The pictures splashed liberally make it look so appetizing! The best thing...the way she describes where the recipes come from...whose kitchen...what family etc...that makes it very personal and interesting!  Curry: A Tale of Cooks and Conquerors $16.95 This is just the kind of book that's serialised in the Sunday Times (the one printed in England). A potted history of India following the development of its culture and cuisine, hilariously brief in many parts. Rather than being a history of Indian cooking, it is more a history of the inrtoduction of Indian cuisine in English culture and the acceptance and development of Indian restaurant in England. Yes, the author does look into the evolution of the various schools of gastronomy in India, but it is all leading up to the focus on England and it's food culture. In all fairness the many interesting vignettes she comes up with, are quite interesting, but a history it is not. The recipes are interesting and I am sure to try them. Do not read this, expecting a serious history of Indian food.  CURRY POWDER FRESHLY PACKED IN LARGE JARS, spices, herbs, seasonings $3.79 Fantastic! Spices are fresh and full of flavor.
