OK, so i'm not done with the book yet, but I'm already irked that i read the first 100 pages when it could easily have been condensed into twenty or thirty pages. Soo boring... Get to the meat already!

I may disagree slightly with other reviewers of this book, but as a pre-adoptive parent, this book has been slightly difficult for me to read. I understand that looking at all aspects of adoption is important, but I frequently felt like I was getting the message from this book that adoption will cause long-term unresolved issues in every single adoptee. Perhaps the viewpoint I'm aluding to is simply that Dr. Pavao's work is with children who have been troubled in some manner via their adoption, but in all honesty, I have felt somewhat discouraged after the reading of this book.

That being said, I think this book would still be a good choice to read as a pre-adoptive parent, but would balance it out with other books. Also, for those looking for a book on the "process" of adoption, this would not be a good choice.

Where are the Walter Cronkites of the world?

I don't know the answer to this question, but I have often wondered what happened to those highly respected, eminently fair, seemingly unbiased journalists who used to grace our television sets and newspapers.

This book, written by journalists on behalf of a group of high level, very concerned journalists, directly addresses in a most lucid and intelligent manner their belief that something is "seriously wrong" with their profession.

If awareness is indeed the first step on the road to recovery, this book bodes well for the development of a new journalism, one that is in sync with the electronic age and will, much like Walter Cronkite, inform us of the facts and encourage us to form our own opinions, as is our right and responsibility as citizens.

If you are concerned about our democracy and the important role that journalism plays in preserving it, I encourage you to read this excellent book.

We've suspected Asperger's for my 10 year old son for close to a year now and we are finally close to receiving our diagnosis. Of course I had questions. I gleaned a bit here and there, but this book tops them all. I can't praise it highly enough. Comprehensive is the best way to describe this book. I kid you not - this book answered ALL of the questions I had about Asperger's and my son. No parent of an Asperger's child should be without this book.
