Although hard "riot grrl" fans dissed Celebrity Skin when it was released, it was and remains one of the great grunge-era albums by any band. With lyrically accessible and audibly pleasing songs as "Malibu" and "Boys on the Radio" (a reworking of Love's Sugar Coma apparently with signficant help by Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins) to introspect ballads as "Awful" and "Reasons to be Beautiful" CS was a departure from Live Through This. Indeed the irony of being "sell outs" wasn't lost on Love; "Boys on the Radio" is often considered an indictment of the record industry and its handling of musicians, while "Playing Your Song" pointedly discusses the very "selling out" that fans of Hole so vehemently accused the album of being the prime example. Yet, its continued sales is a testament to its place in the recent history of music, of whatever persuasion. In addition to the one CD versions, a number of two-CD import sets were made, with live tracks from Australia and the U.K.

As a mental health professional and medical educator, I purchased this DVD to show students and psychiatry residents what goes on in a rehab program following didactic lectures on the topic. Having worked in this type of setting in the past, I am familiar with treatment programs for addictions. Dr. Drew Pinsky is board certified in Internal Medicine and fellowship trained/boarded in Addiction Medicine. He is a professional and clearly shows compassion for his patients who struggle with addictions. He also sets limits and maintains boundaries. However, the people who made the DVD created a hodgepodge of segments that jump around, repeat and it is difficult to show the continuity of care and progress that some of the people make during treatment. I would not purchase this DVD until the producers find a way to make it less chaotic.Perhaps Season II will be better?

Number 1: Hollywood Earth Shattering Scandals: The Infamous, Villains, Nymphomaniacs and Shady Characters in Motion Pictures. It is the newest, largest and the most explosive. Lots of new stories and scandals we did not hear about or read in other books. The galleries of photos are impressive. Author, Maximillien de Lafayette. Definitely this is the very best. Rating: 5 stars

Number 2: Hollywood Babylon. Simply because it was the first, the pioneering work that opens the Pandora Box. Author, Kenneth Anger. This book is still interesting. Rating: 5 stars

Number 3: The Hollywood Book of Scandals. Some new stuff, but lots of rehashes. Rating: 3 stars.

Number 4: Sex lives of Hollywood Goddesses. Very very interesting, but little. However, juicy. Author: Nigel Cawthorne. Rating: 3 stars.

Number 5: Dishing Hollywood. Not much stuff but engaging. Author: Laurie Jacobson. Rating: 3 stars.
