Ok. I admit it. There have been times when I've messed up so much or so badly that I felt that God must be light years away. So I really was Caught Off Guard when I found that He was right there near me, pulling for me, and trying to help me (and He's big enough to do it!).

When I started reading this book, I expected to read about others and their problems and situations, so I was surprised to find my life and my feelings and my situations described. But Professor Smith doesn't just describe the situation, he provides a real life current and/or Biblical example, and shows how God is able to work through the situation, and demonstrate His great love and mercy (while not compromising His perfection and holiness), and bring a result that is good both for His kingdom and for myself.

This book gives me hope that God hasn't given up on me, and shows me how to find the restoration I need. I particularly like how the author shows how the stories in the Bible not only describe people and events, but also how God works in each of their situations. For example, when Aaron totally failed by leading God's people away from God to worship the golden calf, God was still able to restore Aaron and use him as a high priest to lead God's people into the presence of God. If God could do that with him, how much can he yet do with me?
