The big pitchers have about 2.5 inches long. The pitchers are not so red, as shown in the picture. They are only light red above their waist, and light green below their waist. Maybe when they are mature, the shallow red will become deep. Anyway, this is a lovely plant. Just a suggestion: if you receive this plant, you may need to add some distilled water into the pitchers, since during transition the water in the pitchers is lost. If you forget, the pitchers may shrink in the sunshine. Another suggestion: It is a highland nepenthes, so the daytime temps can range from 65F-90F, but the nighttime temps must be at LEAST 10 F cooler than day temp. You can find more detailed instructions for the highland nepenthes from the Internet. I attached a picture of it in the "customer image" above. ![]() Carnivorous Creations $22.95 Grow a collection of meat-eating plants, like Venus Fly Trap, Sundew Plant, Hooded Pitcher, and more. Ages 3+. ![]() The Savage Garden: Cultivating Carnivorous Plants $24.95 This is a great book whether you're just getting interested in carnivorous plants or are a seasoned collector. This is the second time I've bought this book- I regrettably lost my first one when I moved! Great information and pictures on the broad spectrum of carnivorous plant species, and more importantly, lots of good, detailed information on how to grow and propagate your plants once you find the type you're looking for. I have approximately 24 carnivorous plants- tropical and temperate pitcher plants, sundews, utricularia (bladderworts), butterworts, and this book has to be my favorite reference for care and trouble shooting! It even has good information on what insect pests your plants can be susceptible to and how to get rid of them. I highly recommend this book! |
