Assault on Weapons: The Campaign to Eliminate Your Guns
Assault on Weapons: The Campaign to Eliminate Your Guns

$20.00
Pretty good book, all things considered. The author does present relevent information on "the right to keep and bare arms" albeit information that has been circulating for awhile. The author does some repeating of information later in the book that was covered early on, which I feel was done to make the book longer. All in all "Assult on Weapons" was a fairly decent read, with lots of information on the agenda of the "gun grabbers", and what to look out for as the assult on the Second Amendment continues from the liberal media to the liberal legislature.

Part of a series of rags to riches stories of boys achieving the American dream of wealth through hard work, these works can also be seen as helpful in understanding the development of American cultural and social ideals.

I read this novel in about 8 hours -- a day's travel from Denmark to Madrid. Many of the critical points have been made already, so I'll not reiterate. My objection is to the story itself -- fictional (good fictional) accounts of men in battle have already been done. Homer, Norman Mailer, and Michael Herr have already trod this path that the author takes us on. There is very little new insight into the (a)morality of combat, a soldier's first exposure to brutality, fear, sense of honor, etc. The story wasn't all that fascinating either. The ending is fairly predictable and unsatisfying. A further disturbance for a historical novel is the reference to many anachronisims -- military intelligence, battalions, forward elements -- these did not exist in Alexander's army. So, if you can get the book for free, and you've nothing else to do to pass the time, then you may have a good read.
