![]() Womens Floral Burst Fatty Flat Wallet w/ Outside Pocket and Checkbook Cover (Blue with Turquoise Trim) $39.95 This wallet has a lot of room and spaces to put things in, but it is huge! It is as big as a clutch, and you had better have a large purse to carry it in. Otherwise, it is all good... ![]() Soul Burst $14.98 This is great stuff..recorded 40 years ago with some great musicians. It sounds surpringsly fresh still...although it might not have the "heavy groove" that guys like Poncho Sanchez and his group are able to create. It really like the "Patato" Valdez Conga playing and his crazy comments on some tunes just help to create "that" atmosphere. He has some great conga solos that does function so well together with drummer Grady Tate. It is a young Chick Corea on piano and his plays so well and with such a nice latin funk feel..his playing here is very reminiscent of early Herbie Hancock. Cal Tjader's playing is groovy and cookin,, and he is inspired guys like legendary guitarplayer Steve Khan. Perhaps I would have liked to hear Jerome Richardson to play sax on some tracks to get some more punch on some tune s..but that is just a minor reemark. The tune "Manteca" is a highlight and "Nao Se Acabou" has just some great playing by all percussion players. Buy this if you like latinsoulgrooves!!! ![]() Conquest: Writhe $14.99 If you're looking at this review, you are probably already a fan of Burst. You're probbaly like me, a big fan of the amazing "Origo" and "Prey on Life" releases, and wondering how this one stacks up. I'm not going to write a detailed review, because I've only just received the album; but I will say that "Conquest: Writhe" is definitely a worthy addition to your Burst collection. This album documents a young band poised for great things. I think if I had heard this album first, I would have had the same impression that I had after hearing "Prey on Life"...that i couldn't wait to hear what these guys would come up with next. "Conquest: Writhe" is more raw than either of the albums to follow, but still displays all the elements that make Burst such a great band. The production isn't as polished as "Prey on Life," which in my opinion is a good thing. For some strange reason, I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this album as much as I've enjoyed the rest of Burst's material. I'm glad I picked it up, the album is fantastic. Hopefully this band will see more success, and this overlooked album will see better distribution. For the time being, you can get it from relapse records. Don't pay ridiculous prices to independent sellers, this album is readily available on other sites. ![]() Burst Angel: The Complete Collection (includes OVA) [Blu-ray] $79.98 This anime was really good in alot of ways. With this boxset you also get the OVA which is really good since it explains more about the two female main characters and their past. I don't know what it is, but this series has a slight feel of Heavy Metal mixed with like Full Metal Panic!. I don't really know how to explain it without giving any spoilers away. It's actually not as violent as you might expect and the characters really depend on eachother. Jo the main herione while cold to some still has a tight nit bond with Meg. They have been together since the begining. Unfortunatly I don't want to go into too much detail, but I do recommend the series. I am sure one of the other reviewers might have explained it better, but I am trying to stay away from possible spoilers. |
