Brass Button Broadcasters: A Lighthearted Look at Fifty Years of Military Broadcasting
Brass Button Broadcasters: A Lighthearted Look at Fifty Years of Military Broadcasting

$34.95
American Forces Radio is as well known to non-US military listeners as it is to the folks who serve, whether they're tuned to FEN Tokyo, AFN Frankfurt or WASA McMurdo, Antarctica. For many years I've searched for weak signals in the middle of the night from radio stations in Saigon, Kunsan, Naha and other outposts of the AFRTS network. As a DXer, just hearing these rare signals as far away as New Zealand has been a real thrill. Sometimes I've received cards and letters from the stations, and I've wanted to know more about them, and the audiences they serve. This is the only book I know which tells the human side of the 60 year old story of military radio with music. Tracing the emergence from Alaska to the Pacific's Mosquito Network of WWII to Europe and Operation Desert Shield, and with some 132 countries where broadcasts have taken place, this book is a must for the collection of any Shortwave Radio fan. Great photos of people, towers, transmitter sites and studios, including WVTX Iwo Jima, this book fills in a lot of knowledge gaps and provides useful history written in an entertaining style. Nothing boring here if you like radio, and the story of how radio reaches the serving men and women and keeps them in touch with home, even in these days of the Internet and streaming audio.

Ronnie Earl is possibly my favorite guitar musician right now. He has done some great soulful music. This DVD is a little weak. Ronnie doesn't act like he is in good health or has much energy. I'm glad I have this DVD but I won't loan it to any friends that I'd like to turn on to Ronnie Earl music as it might turn them off. This is for fans only.

A solid little work horse of a mic suitable for many applications including broadcasting and voice over.

The LED "on air" lite is really handy when you use several different mics into a mixer that allows you to know when the phantom power is working.

This mic is mostly used for broadcasting applications and I know of one voice talent that uses it exclusively for voice overs.

Although I prefer the Neumann TLM 103 for voice over work, this is my mic of choice for podcasts and general studio applications.

There is a built in pop stopper in the form of insulation padding inside the grill so you don't really need a pop stopper if you angle it slightly at about 6-8 inches from the source (your lips) which allows more sight room for scripts and so forth.

I bought this over a year ago and cannot find a single issue with it whatsoever.

Ruggedly built, comes with a vinyl zipper pouch that you can easily zip over it while it remains on the stand if you don't want to unscrew it between use--a solid performer from a company that understands quality in sound devices--HUGE UPS on this product--I love my Rode!

Ronnie Earl is an incredible blues guitarist song writer. I love his music and the way he expresses himself through his music. Just like the many great guitarist of past, Ronnie definitely plays with soul and heart. This CD is very good and I highly recommend it to a true blues lover. Ronnie at times sings about spiritual things but that's because of what he's been through, so ignore the comment about his christian influences. Ronnie Earl in my mind is one of the few blues guitarist that has a true, clean, original sound. Once you hear that strat, you know it's Ronnie bending them strings. I've seen many great guitarist in my time and Ronnie Earl is up there. If you have an opportunity to see him live, I guarantee you'll leave inspired.
