I bought the Internet Cop for an XP desktop connected to a fiber optic network. This is a great device, featuring two large "red light" "green light" buttons that let you take your whole system off the network with the simple press of a button (I used to manually unplug the network cable from the router when working on sensitive financial files to avoid malicious hackers).

The Internet Cop has really simplified my life. It's given me a trusted, physical firewall that's quick and easy to use. Push a button, off the network. Push a button, on the network. And it's very obvious is you're on (large green light) or off (large red light). Cool!

If you have to ask why you have to unplug from the network to avoid hackers, it's time to do a Google search and learn a little more about your computer's vulnerability while online even when protected by a firewall and/or virus programs----- OR you can just buy one of these and trust that you really, really need one if your computer is not already equipped with an off/on networking switch. Think PHYSICAL FIREWALL--hackers can't hit what they can't see.

Damn fast and nearly perfect the green and /red cylon LED at the top which constsntly blinks annoys your lower left peripheral vision.

The installation is a snap and you can use, criticize Sprint and your cell phone company as much as you'd like but Sprint's network and their packet data coverage exceeds all others in the entire USA, they have more rural coverage with these cards and have been uprooting satellite broadband and old modems by the tonnage. City dwellers with notice comparable if not improved speed over their DSL line but you can't take your DSL line to the airport.

Download or search for SMBFull_Installer_V3.10.014.exe to duck the "sprintVision" connection manager since itjust saps bandwidth and cretes misery and delays.

If purchasing used or refurb, avoid paying extra for "clean ESN's", the original term used to mean the device was never reported stolen but has evolved to include any device purchased or not and never registered.

Sprint's web site enables end users to provision / deprovision devices and adding / removing this device only requires a 6-10 digit string from the label and three clicks to complete.
Just plug the used into the Sprints Connection Mgr in the foreground, the CM will check the devices PRL and over write any of the prior owner's logon ID's and passwords
