![]() The Brethren $15.00 While this book is certainly well-written and gripping, the plot, especially the end, is shallow. In addition, the long-winded digressions about the presidential race are quite tedious to read. ![]() Brethren Society: The Cultural Transformation of a Peculiar People (Center Books in Anabaptist Studies) $24.95 Carl Desportes Bowman tells it like it was in his account of the decline and acculturation of the Church of the Brethren, the formerly conservative wing of the Brethren Movement. It's readable, enjoyable, but on the whole a very sad story. ![]() Crusade $15.00 Book was listed as new but had several deep scratches on the face of the dustjacket. Also hardback books need to stop being delivered in soft packages. We are being charged the same amount as we always have been only getting cheaper in delivery methods. Hardbacks come with banged up corners and other damage when shipped in soft packages. ![]() Seduce Me In Shadow (The Doomsday Brethren, Book 2) $7.99 Caden MacTavish's brother Lucan is suffering since losing his mate, Anka. If Caden cannot find her, Lucan will surely die from severe mate mourning. While Caden's concern for Lucan grows, the Doomsday Brethren is preparing to fight another battle against evil wizard, Mathias d'Arc. Mathias is trying to find the Book of Doomsday. If he succeeds, he will have the power to destroy them all. Tabloid reporter Sydney Blair has information she shouldn't. Caden is sent to find out her source and stop her from revealing any more of magickind's secrets; a mission that will change their lives forever. Caden refuses to accept his magic. He's seen first hand what it can do, but with Mathias on the loose, he may not be able to save Sydney or magickind without it. The second book in the Doomsday Brethren series is full of the same excitement, sensuality, and suspense as its predecessor. It is a bit `Harry Potter' as Sydney says. Magic wands, transcasts, and a few convenient scenarios make things more story-like rather than a magical reality. The dynamics between the characters in Seduce Me in Shadow is engrossing. I am anxious to see what Shock is really up to and what will happen between him, Lucan, and Anka. The intense chemistry between Ice and Sabelle is nearly overwhelming as well. The mating Call is a powerful thing. Its sexual and emotional ferocity is tangible throughout the story. Lucan's suffering is unbearable. It's a relief when Caden finally stops running from his Call to Sydney. The Doomsday Brethren is an intriguing series and I look forward to the next installment.
