![]() Dr. Boondigga & the Big BW $14.98 Already a highly influential and established band in their home country of New Zealand, Fat Freddy's Drop are back with their second release. Their first album "Based on a True Story" (also highly recommended) went multi-platinum and is regarded as one of the country's best releases of the past 20 years. Why is that exactly? Their genre bending music is so diverse and well executed it's hard to put words to it. Soulful vocals over slow horns and moderated drum and bass techno beats with a heavy reggae influence?? It's really something that has to be heard. Sound spaces and textures on this disc will set any mood. While the 11 minute masterpiece that is "Shiverman" will show you what drum and bass music is capable of, the soulful tunes like "The Camel" and "Boondigga" will bring you back to a sonic nirvana, with slow horns and soulful jazz stylings to boot. I think it's just a matter of time before this band explodes in the U.S. If you are looking for something new and totally original, look no further. ![]() Gerber 22-41589 Big Rock Camp Knife $48.30 Good build quality, comfortable grip, nice sheath. Haven't used it enough yet to be able to comment on edge-holding or durability, but if it's anything like my other Gerbers, there's nothing to worry about there. Only complaint is that it can sit a bit awkwardly when seated whilst wearing the sheath on a belt; not a big problem, though. |
