![]() Equal Bulk Pack for Recipes $24.99 I recently ordered and received EQUAL (bulk pk) from Amazon.com. It was promptly shipped & received. It is very good, but the price is quite high. ![]() What's In Your Food?: The Truth about Additives from Aspartame to Xanthan Gum $7.95 I found this book to be a handy, quick reference to the hundreds of additives commonly found today. The one drawback to the book was in the printing of the tables - they were printed in shades of gray - dark for avoid, gray for caution, and white for safe. It was difficult to read the entries for the items to avoid because the background shading for these entries was almost too dark. ![]() Aspartame (NutraSweet): Is it Safe? (Nutrasweet : Is It Safe?) $24.95 However, since Equal and Nutrasweet became widely available -- I recall the products coming on the market around 1984 -- it's practically been a food group for me. If I were going to drop dead, I think I'd have done it by now. I notice that Splenda is being substituted for Nutrasweet in a lot of the products I've been buying for years. Twenty years down the road, I'll probably be reading about the ways Splenda kills people. Whatever. ![]() Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World $19.95 This book will rock your world. It opened up the workings of the FDA and how back room deals are wreaking havoc on our lifestyles and bodies. If you consume artificial sweeteners, I recommend you read this book. Even if you are not "dieting", you need to read your labels, because this stuff is EVERYWHERE. You will put those pretty little packets in the trash after you do. It has changed how I eat and shop. It gives the history of "sweet" and why we crave what our bodies in nature would reject. Read this book! |
