Please visit the web gallery at michaelevers.com  Voices for Gilda $25.00 While I enthusiastically endorse the cause for which this 2-CD set was produced, it has to be one of the strangest assortments of musical novelty songs and pop drivel I have ever come across. Most of the comedy is performed by Saturday Night Live alumni (Steve Martin's King Tut, Dana Carvey's Chopping Broccoli, The Blues Brothers' Soul Man, Billy Crystal's You Look Marvelous, Radner's The Way We Were, and her husband Gene Wilder's Ohio). While these bits are amusing, the discs are dominated by cloyingly sentimental music of wildly varying styles and value, from the sublime (Elton John's Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me and Paul Simon's Loves Me Like a Rock) to the ridiculous (Celine Dion's To Love You More and Kenny G's The Moment). These folks just don't get along on the same recording with jazz vocalists like Tony Bennett (Smile), pop-jazzers like Harry Connick, Jr. (Reason to Believe), Broadway babies like Mandy Patinkin (Singing in the Bathtub) and Nathan Lane (The King of Broadway), elder statesmen like Quincy Jones (For Lena & Lennie), soundtrack composers like David Foster (Love Theme from "St. Elmo's Fire"), country singers like Randy Travis (Heroes and Friends) and Willie Nelson (Laying My Burdens Down), and female singer-songwriters like Sarah McLachlan (Full of Grace).
