![]() Curb Appeal: Exciting Ways to Enhance the Appearance of Your Home $19.95 I think it's always best not to make preconceived notions of what you'll find in a book. Just let it surprise you. I also am a student of photos. I don't need a huge amount of detail in the text as I'm smart enough to look at what works in the photos and make applications for my own usage. Publishing a book in full color is difficult enough. Kudos! This book did not disappoint me. The photos are outstanding and each one brings something to the discussion that the others have not. A wide assortment of homes were selected as well and the presentations were just as wide and varied, so there is something there for everyone to appreciate and relate to. At the end are some "how to" projects, which was unexpected. Excellent book if you want ideas on how you can make your home more appealing from the curb. ![]() Feminine Appeal $13.99 This book is solid - as you would expect from Carolyn Mahaney. She handles the topic of Biblical Womanhood well. It makes for a good one on one study as well as a group study. She goes through each quality of a 'Titus 2' woman in detail. Taking one quality per chapter. She uses the Word correctly and without any post-modern influence just expositing the scriptures in an interesting and well-written, attention grabbing style. ![]() Appeal To Reason $13.98 The only reason I got this was because it was the deal of the day on Amazon and I figured it was worth seeing what Rise Against was all about. I'm definitely glad I did. These guys know how to write some good rock. Almost every song on here got stuck in my head when I listened to the CD. The lyrics are pretty good, nothing amazing but decent. I'd also have to agree with one of the reviewers that said the lead singer sounds like Dexter from The Offspring at times but that's certainly no insult. All in all there are really no disappointing songs on here except for maybe Hero of War. Not too sure about the lyrics and if they are indeed insulting the troops that are risking their lives then I'd lose a little respect for the band. But other than that this is a great CD all the way through. I'd recommend it. ![]() An Appeal to Reason: A Cool Look at Global Warming $11.70 The Global warming hypsters hate Nigel Lawson. He is a major public figure with real world experience in a major public offic- and a man who believes in approaching things rationally. He is not a 'Denier' ( a false pejorative used by the doommongers to avoid any rational thought when it comes to dealing with global warming). Instead, he believes in measured steps that makes sense both environmentally and economically. The Al Gores of the world hate guys like this because they know, deep down in their hearts, that they can only keep their snakeoil salesmanship going just so long. In the end, Abraham Lincoln is always right: "You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all the people all of the time". Lawson was a major British politicion long enough to learn this and to have absorbed that lesson. This book is exactly what the title says: a cool rational look at the problem of global warming and what a truly rational response actually looks like. |
