I found this book to be well written and quite interesting. It is a good companion book to the Norman Friedman book on aircraft carrier design history. I was a little dissapointed that some of the ship status information was incorrect. For example it notes that the Lexington and Hornet were scrapped versus being museums. However, the historic information about the ships and their deployments was described in very good detail.

I bought this for my 5 year old who was fascinated with air craft carriers after our visit to Midway. This is a huge worthless piece of plastic...none of the parts (lid, watch tower, and satellite dish) attach or fit. So, every time my son moves it just slightly, everything falls off. The small deck that is supposed to go up and down does not work. The sounds are mediocre in quality and not very interesting. My son now only plays with the toy jets that came with it (which you may get separately and save $40) and this toy has already made it to the Goodwill just one month after purchase.

The information provided is detailed but aimed at the history of World War II. Not much detail on the actual ships themselves. For that I had to get a different video.

Although the carrier has litle wheels to play with, this is more of a display model... to impress your friends. The tiny die-cast airplanes are like micro machines. It is pretty durable since most parts are made of metal. I bought it to give away as a gift, but had I opened and used it, it would probably stayed behind a glass shelf.
