I love this album! Although I've been a Nickel Creek fan for years, I've only recently become acquainted with Glen Phillips and his former (sometimes current) group, Toad the Wet Sprocket. Toad was in its heyday when I was busy raising kids, so my recent discovery of Toad and Glen has been wonderful. Thus, I was absolutely delighted when I found this collaborative album. I was frankly astonished at the negative reviews, particularly complaints about the mixing, which I find baffling. I am a pretty critical listener and I find nothing wrong with the production and mixing on this album at all. The production is sparse, but that is one of the things I like about it. Glen handles the leads on the vocals, but the Nickel Creek folks add harmony in lots of places and of course are masters at their instruments on all the tunes. There are some incredible songs on this album, especially "Sake of the World," a softer, but wonderful version of the old Toad song "Windmills," and achingly beautiful renditions of "Francesca" and "La Lune" (despite the heartbreaking subject matter of the latter). If you like sweet acoustic music done by folks who obviously love to play together, please get this album.
