LETTERS FROM TEL MOND PRISON: An Israeli Settler Defends His Act of Terror
LETTERS FROM TEL MOND PRISON: An Israeli Settler Defends His Act of Terror

The four published reviews of this book are rather biased and show that the reviewers did not internalize what the author wrote. They stand in stark contrast to the 7 personal reviews. I couldn't put this book down. In a very personal way the author and his real experiences embody the reality of the co-existence, or lack thereof, in judea and samaria today. Stangely enough, shortly after a friend insisted I read this book I have shared tea with Era in his home and with his neighbors in Turmis Aya that he descibes in the book and to independently hear them tell the same stories he tells in the book.
This book should be required reading for anyone that wants to offer an opinion about the future of Samaria.
Zeal for Zion: Christians, Jews, and the Idea of the Promised Land

The standard histories of Zionism have depicted it almost exclusively as a Jewish political movement, one in which Christians do not appear except as antagonists. In the highly original Zeal for Zion, Shalom Goldman makes the case for a wider and more inclusive history, one that brings the substantial Christian involvement with Zionism--most recently by American evangelical Protestants--into the light.

Goldman offers a fresh perspective on the history of Zionism, deftly weaving together the stories of poets and diplomats, Christian scholars and Jewish leaders, the Vatican and the State of Israel, and modern literary masters such as Jorge Luis Borges, Robert Graves, and Vladimir Nabokov. Goldman argues that Jewish Zionism was influenced by--and cannot be understood in isolation from--Christian culture generally and Christian Zionist culture specifically. Shedding light on the deep and interrelated roots of Christian-Jewish relations, fraught with tension and ambivalence, he finds that Christian support for the Jewish Zionist cause has been essential to the success of the movement.

Christian Zionism has a long history and has been embraced at various times by Catholics and Protestants, liberals and conservatives, reformers and traditionalists. Zeal for Zion places this vital movement within the larger history of Zionism, making the story of Zionism all the more rich and complex.

Fantastic Film! Not to be missed. In one hour Anna Baltzer passionately presents an intelligent and insightful introduction to the Israeli-Palestinian land conflict.
In the documentary Anna speaks from a living room while sitting on a couch with her laptop next to her. Initially I thought this was amateurish and was put-off by it. I am accustomed to the super slick graphics and lecture hall audience which lends credibility to the speaker. In retrospect I think her choice serves her well. The film has the feel of a friend speaking personally yet passionately. She never talks down to her audience and she is far more gracious than I would be.
I am a Christian who in the past had believed and taught the standard Zionist line. What changed my perspective was when a friend challenged me with the question of, "What if Jesus were serious about loving one's enemies?" Conservative Evangelical Christians completely reject this possibility with objections such as, "Just wherein loving your enemies does it say not to kill them?" and "Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is to kill them.". Fortunatley I examined the issue and as I came to embrace these words of Christ my theology was shaken to its foundation.
Prior to viewing Life in Occupied Palestine I had read several books which made me familiar with the issues. They include Secret Believers and Operation Desert Light by Brother Andrew, Whose Land? Whose Promise? by Gary Burge and Blood Brothers by Elias Chacour. I highly recommend these books.
Knowing what I know about the Israeli / Palestinian conflict I was very impressed with Baltzer's presentation. Her use of maps to illustate the effects of the day to day realities of oppression are impressive. The unconditional support of Israel by the United States to the tune of 10 million dollars per day in light of these injustices is shameful.
I can't say enough good things about this film. I will purchase it and share it many times. I also intend to purchase her book Witness in Palestine.
