Yes, this book is now number one of my personal list of the funniest books of all time. Within just a few pages, my whole family knew this, as I was laughing hysterically out loud every few minutes. This lasted throughout the whole book. Yet the 5 stars are not just for humor, but for excellent writing, wonderful insights into being a teen and young adult in the late 70s and early 80s, and even for thoughts about morality and religion.

Simply put, this book is almost all about sex, or thoughts of it, or relationships that might lead to it. Paul Feig is a bright, kind young man, and has extremely supportive parents, but he is not really smooth with the ladies. His descriptions of his relationships are so truthful and detailed---he is blessed with a total recall of what it really feels like to be in a dating situation. I loved it that this book wasn't all about casual hookups, but also was not judgemental in tone. I think Feig's attitude about sex is much like many people's, but it's a voice you don't see much reflected in the media or literature---recognizing that sex is an huge part of life, but not something to be entered into totally lightly, as people in some memoirs I've been reading lately seem to do.

One of my favorite parts of this book was when Feig quoted passages from his diary, and then footnoted them with insights. It was hilarious. I kept diaries through most of high school and college, and they can be extremely cringe-inducing to read over now, but they certainly do provide a window not overly edited by memory of what it was really like to be that age.

I can't wait to read Kick Me, Feig's other book about his childhood, and in fact ANYTHING he ever chooses to write in the future.
