Witchblade
 Witchblade: The Complete Series $69.98 Well, first of all, the price was excellent. To get the entire series (2 seasons plus pilot etc.) for this price was unexpected! As for the content of the series, i had never seen it before and was a bit disappointed. The first season was great, but the second season felt like the beginning of a long series. There should have been more seasons to wrap up the story. Season one is one long story with a good and hopeful ending. It should have stopped after the first season or gone 3 or 4 more seasons to reach a proper finish. I read somewhere that Yancy Butler had to go to rehab and they cancelled the show. The characters are fairly good: All the cops are good, Ken Irons is pretty good, although not as big and strong as the comic, and Ian Nottingham is sometimes laughable in his manorisms and pouting face. The comic showed him as stoic (i think) and this show makes him childlike mostly. Lastly, (obviously the budget wasn't there) the Witchblade doesn't really do much cool stuff. No shooting fire, minimal organic tendrils or morphing. Mostly it's metal and either sword-gauntlet, armor or both. It seems its only powers are blocking bullets (which gets really old) and giving Pezzini some psychic powers (plus some time control). Super Witchblade fans would like it in their collection. Casual viewers may not.  Witchblade, Vol. 1 $29.98 You can tell this is made by the same people that did Elven Leid. I personally loved Elfen Leid. As with that series there is a ton of graphic violence and the lead female has crazy tentacle like things she can do a lot of damage with. The main character, Masane, has amnesia and a[..]daughter. Child welfare is on her case to hand her daughter over, since Masane keeps finding herself in bad situations and unable to support them both. When her daughter is taken by child welfare she finds herself in a desperate chase to get her daughter back. When she is in danger a strange bracelet on her wrists pulses and she transforms into the Witchblade bearer; a truly kick-butt fighter. The animation and dubbing are both top-notch. The story is intriguing and the action scenes are wonderful. The characters are enjoyable. Although this anime seems a little more geared at catching the guys eyes than the ladies. Special attention is given to the female characters chests (which defy gravity) and Masane's costume as Witchblade barely covers at all. The biggest disappointment at this point is that there are no particularly sexy male leads. People who find violence disturbing should find something else to watch. Those who love the violence and fighting of Elfen Leid or Hellsing should get a kick out of this anime. Witchblade Masane finds blood and violence erotically exciting and that may be disturbing to some people as well. Definitely an anime for a mature audience. I loved it and proceeded to buy the complete series online after watching it.  Witchblade Volume 1: Witch Hunt (v. 1) $9.99 The story and art are really good, but my copy (ordered from the publisher not from Amazon) had poor binding -- the pages separated from the spine almost immediately -- so be sure to check your copy when you get it.
