Didn't like this book very much. It's clearly just a cover with a title to sell books. The last half of the book was completely useless to me. The seamonkey web designed software it comes with is very basic. You can download almost identical programs for free online. You can do without this book. It sucked.

Building Findable Websites: Web Standards, SEO, and Beyond by Aaron Walter is the best web development book I've read in a long time. It is densely packed with actionable advice for improving the "findability" of your site, and in so doing, improve the usability, readability, speed, and manageability of your site. Findability is a broader concept than simply SEO. It is helping people find your site, helping people navigate your site and retrieve the information/action they want from it, and encouraging people to return to your site.

Walter covers a wide range of areas you can work on to improve the findability of your site, from the importance of quality content with strategically placed keywords, using semantic markup with clear hierarchies, server-side strategies such as friendly urls, rss and email subscriptions, etc.

I heartily recommend this book to not just web designers and developers, but also website owners and managers and web content writers.

Save your money and time- I've had over 20 minute hold times for their customer service before I give up. In order to cancel your subscription, you can't do it online, you have to call their HORRIBLE customer service and try to reach someone.

This is a great book for inspiration when your well is running dry. I recommend it as a necessary addition to any graphic designer's collection. The only reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 is because one of the sites mentioned & included on the cover has errors (the bottom left corner, second one from the left). It contains bad CSS and visibly shows a a background for the navigation that is a few pixels too far to the left.

Otherwise, great book.
