![]() HP KQ246AA 8.0MP Deluxe Webcam $49.99 This is the least expensive UVC compatible USB2.0 webcam that I have found online - it even undercuts some no-name no-support imports. The beauty of UVC compatible webcams is that they are Macintosh compatible out of the box with no drivers or hacks required. OSX from 10.4.9 onwards has built in UVC (USB Video Class) drivers and this camera is very highly rated for image and audio quality at the list price of $50, and a total steal at the Amazon price of $20! 10.6 killed iUSBCam (iChatUSBCam) compatibility in iChat - so this is a totally viable option for people with MacPros or MacMinis who don't have a built in camera or an iSight. ![]() Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 (Blue) $49.99 For the price, this little camera produces an excellent quality picture and the built in microphone works well also. The ability to sit ontop of a flatscreen monitor is a clever design. Obviously the installation went easy enough since it is a Microsoft devise hooking into Windows. Worked with Vista as well as Win7. ![]() Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks Deluxe $49.99 I bought this webcam to use with my laptop when I am away from home. I have owned several different webcams and my basic needs are a camera that can deliver 640x480 resolution at 30fps. This camera does a good job of delivering that level of service which is enough to provide a relatively smooth picture. The Logitech software for enhancing a picture in low light also works well as does their software that cancels sound loops that would lead to feedback. The one drawback I have found is the mount has insufficient spread to clamp onto my laptop's display frame. ![]() Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 (68C-00001) $79.95 This was great. It was a gift for my mother-in-law to keep in touch with her grandaughter who is overseas for a year. She loves it! |
