DO NOT buy this book. This book would have been a great resource in it's day. The information would have been fantastic to have in one place with continuous updates. However, the vast majority of the information in this book is no longer valid now and completely unusable and the updates ended many years ago. Even the update site is no longer up and running. Save your money and just use your search engine on the internet.

I was extremely surprised to see this book. as a developer I couldn't make a single thing. it was more like reading a brochure for a product. By finishing the book I knew so many features that are in the product but I had no idea how to use them.

My advice: if you are a developer then don't even think about buying this book.

This book is great for someone new or looking for specific information on a certain keyword. There are a few other products that I have found that may be more informative the 2007 Internet Yellow Pages which has more websites listed and the other is an online directory search engine at [...]. I would say for the cost I thought this book was well worth it.

The earlier editions seem to show a wider range of designs. They are also more balanced in showing designs from different fields. In this volume, the "design & illustration" field takes up almost 200 of the 500 pages, and there seems to be a lot more template-based sites represented. That being said, it's still a good resource (especially considering that this newer edition has more sites using standards-compliant code), but I think the earlier ones are superior in scope.
