![]() Orphan $28.98 Before I watch movies, I come to the Amazon.com website and explore the various reviews while trying to avoid any spoilers to get an idea of what people and critics think. However, I do form my own opinion as I have treasured movies that critics hated and thought some critically acclaimed movies as the most boring, daudling films I've ever seen in my life. I just finished watching Orphan and I tell you what, I half expect to see that "child's" evil face staring at me from the top of the stairs. Wow, what a job Isabelle Fuhrman did as the "child". I agree it is oscar worthy. Ok, so the pace was slow (especially at first!) but this is a psychological suspense thriller and watching this actress portray a child that was one side articulate, intelligent, and caring and the other side pure sadistic, manipulative, and violent evil was fascinating. Also, the movie was meant to be slow but with the increasing notion of impending doom and terror coming at the climax, which is what happened. For those who favor movies with a lot of action and gore and constant slam bang terror, this isn't the movie for you. I perhaps though feel a bit idiotic as it seems many saw coming the twist at the end coming. I didn't and I like it when a movie gives me a surprise. That's an instant star and this one didn't dissapoint. I did though think wow when the evil Esther threatened her sibling in a very concise, absolutely no doubt what was on her mind, expressed evil thought. It did make me stop for a moment and wonder... Then I let it go and the twist came and it was a big OKAY, I GET IT!! The actors in this movie were all great, even the naive as I'll get out father/husband portrayed convincingly by Peter Sarsgaard. If anyone was going to get it, I could see it coming for him in the end. Yikes, wake up man! It was wrenching seeing no one believing the mother character played by Vera Farmiga. That role must have been draining for her-the anguish is so well executed. In the end though, atleast in this case, mother knows best and don't mess with the children! The child actors and CCH Pounder also were great. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie that sent chills down my spine and made me a bit jumpy after it ended. To the director and actors-excellent picture!! Sincerely, William ![]() Dummy $9.98 I loved this movie Im such a fun of Milla and I think she is amazing, and of course I needed to have this movie...so I bought and well.... I think Im so happy to have it ...and it's like a treasure for me..i fully recomend it ![]() Down to the Bone $14.98 this has a great story of a couple who are mutually addicted, and how the addiction plays a role in their relationship and how it damages their relationship. This is must-see for your recovery library. ![]() Joshua $2.99 Kind of freaky. And it's a good sign when you yell at your tv -- which I did a lot. The ending was a little bit of a suprise. If it's a dull week and you're looking for something to watch, this isn't too bad. |
