CD is okay. Most of the songs are not like I remebered them growing up in the 60's. Good value tho.

I've heard about this must-have twenty-nine track compilation of the Ventures from a couple of long time patrons. Basically, your proto-type standard surf magic here to thoroughly take in. Believe me, those new / er surf bands that came onto the scene later has nothing on the Ventures. Tunes that I found myself playing repeatedly were "Ram-Bunk-Shush", "Driving Guitars (Ventures Twist)", the unmatchable instrumentals - "Underground Fire" and their best known gem "Hawaii Five-O" as well as the all too familiar sounding "Night Drive" and the (almost) unreal "Fugitive". Highly recommended.

Hello All...I just thought I would impart some information that mattered to me and I would have liked to have had before purchase. One of the concerts was in Japan as I heard Mel Taylor addressing the audience in Japaneese. The 30th and 40th anniversary concerts are both featuring Nokie Edwards on lead guitar which was a plus for me. The picture and sound was fairly good on the 30th anniversary show and really good on the 40th. The lineups were as follows:
Thirtieth Anniversary;
Nokie Edwards...Lead Guitar
Don Wilson...Rhythm Guitar
Mel Taylor...Drums
Bass Guitar...unknown

Fortieth Anniversary:
Nokie Edwards...Lead Guitar
Bob Bogle...Bass Guitar
Don Wilson...Rhythm Guitar
Leon Taylor (son of Mel)....Drums
I enjoyed the concerts although there was room for improvement ....not by the Ventures as they are the BEST but in the filming and DVD transfer. I was also very thrilled to see Nokie Edwards handling the lead guitar duties ! Gerry McGhee is very good but Nokie is the one I grew up with and is my personal preference !!
Buy this DVD and you will not be disappointed as the Ventures are the best instrumental band in the world ! THEY ROCK !! Donald R. Brady Jr.
