I can't imagine what personal failings would lead anyone to give this CD one star. It was and is the finest example of Industrial/EBM/Gothic music. Beloved has become an anthem of the goth scene. It is at the same time one of the saddest and most uplifting songs ever written. Ronan's lyrics transcend the tripe that the music industry pawns off on the public. To truly appreciate VNV Nation you must see them live. It is not so much a concert as a revival...of faith that life is worth living, that you are not alone. In fact there is an astonishing video on YouTube by a Christian fellow who wandered into a VNV show one night. It changed his life. This album demonstrates the breadth of Ronan and Mark's talent, from the ballad Holding On to ultra-Industrial Electronaut. You can experience a live show by watching the DVD PastPerfect, which was filmed during the concert tour following the release of FuturePerfect.
