I wish Perahia would not resort to a single conception or approach to every piece of music he plays. It's played well, musically, but with a gloss that can be slightly annoying. I know he will never be a scintillating virtuouso on the level of a Horowitz, but he could let loose once in a while and go for broke as they say.

Like I said, everything is played correctly and musically, and he perks up a little with the Mendelssohn. But is it enough to leave me breathless with wonder? No.

These cards are a great tool to teach children to read. On the one side of the cards there are individual words while on the other side there are interesting sentences including the respective words from the other side. I was surprised to see plenty of words within the sentences which were not included on the word-side of the cards, but they may have been on the Level 1 cards, which we did not use.
My son (5 years old) was quickly able to read all of the sentences without error--it helps to work on 20 cards at a time and to gradually increase the number of cards used in one sitting.
