![]() 90124 $16.97 If you're into demos and pre-production, then you won't want to miss this one. Laying out the foundations for the second of Yes (in the early-to-mid 80's), this CD highlights where much of 90125 came from. Additionally, the added tracks that didn't make it to 90125 (along with demos) are an auditory treat for fans of that album, Yes, or music of that genre. Certainly a great score, very glad I got it. :) ![]() Yes 9012 Live $19.99 Love Yes. Love Soderbergh. Hate this. In fact, I like all the Yes line-ups, including the Buggles, but not this show. If you go to "Bonus Materials" and choose "Director's Cut", that eliminates the extremely annoying 50's graphics that fly over the concert footage you'd like to be watching, but there's still the "Mr. Rabin and His Incredible Back-up Band" factor (Jon is relagated to back-up singer many times, and doesn't look thrilled about it). Some of the instrumentation and vocals also seem pre-recorded. Mr. Rabin is a great guitar player and singer/song writer, but "finger-tapping" in a Yessong? This just isn't a classic Yesshow - it's Yes with Eddie Van Halen. Recommend: ANY OTHER Yes DVD, and "Jon Anderson - Tour of the Universe", they're all very good. Solaris Yes - Yessongs Bubble Tour of the Universe The Good German Yes: Live at Montreux 2003 ![]() Live in L.A. $16.97 While some previous reviews took issue with the sound quality of this CD, I prefer to view this release in the context of 'live rock and roll.' Personally I have no complaints about the sound quality, this is rock and roll, not Mozart so crank it up and let 'er rip! Now, down to brass tacks. The setlist features tracks from Trevor's outstanding 1989 solo release 'Can't Look Away' as well as a few Yes songs and an older track from 'Wolf'. The songs are performed with a great deal of energy and the musicianship is A+. What really impressed me was the quality of the vocals. 'Can't Look Away' had some really rich harmonies and I was delighted to see that the vocals on 'Live in LA' were of such a high caliber. I, like zillions of other rock fans, was introduced to this amazingly talented musician via '90125' and as a fellow geetar picker, I was knocked out by his melodic chops. This guy can play. I purchased 'Can't Look Away' upon release in 1989 after hearing Trevor plugging the album on 'Rockline' and after listening to the awesome live renditions on 'Live in LA', I went and dug out 'Can't Look Away' and was even more impressed by the vocals and the live release. If you are a fan of Yes, or AOR in general, then I heartily recommend this CD. |
