![]() Route 66: Traveler's Guide and Roadside Companion $13.95 We started our trip with this guide but set it aside after two days. It has four major shortcomings: First, it overlays modern routes on the classic strip maps. But exits are seldom shown, and it's a guessing game to figure out how to get to the old route - or how to stay on the old route when it crosses I40. Second, the old strip maps show towns that no longer exist - part of the charm, of course, but these towns don't show up on modern maps, and so it's impossible to correlate where you ARE with where you would have been BACK THEN. Third, it lacks detailed driving directions. Since US66 is often a discontinuous set of road segments - especially through towns - this is a major shortcoming. Fourth, it sometimes shortchanges old and interesting route segments - most notable through Santa Fe, NM. On our second day we found another guide, Jerry McClanahan's "EZ 66" which overcomes all these difficulties and more: it lists more historic attractions, has excellent driving directions, includes very uncluttered maps where maps are needed, has separate directions for traveling from west to east, and includes short side-trips to old road segments. I strongly recommend that book over this one. ![]() Classroom StoreWorks $49,399.00 The easiest way to create and run a store in your classroom!
